Gattaca

Gattaca really brought the whole should we play God question to the table.  Is it right for us to tap into the DNA of embryos? Should we deny jobs to those whose parents chose not to get gene therapy?  Even in this movie, superior genetics proved to not always be better.  Vincent and his brother, Anton, had a swimming race that they would play when they were children.  Anton was the genetically altered boy and Vincent was traditionally conceived.  One day Anton and Vincent were racing when Vincent began to overtake his brother and beat him.  Even more astonishing was that he had to go back to save his brother, Anton.  This just proves that one cannot refuse “invalids” jobs in a genetically changed world.  Some are just as equal or even better than the valid people.
