DNA Engineering

by

The idea that we can beat out mother nature by using technology is ridiculous. Nature was created to be uncontrollable and it is supposed to never be beaten. They are trying to engineer people so that they are more successful but their success is not genetics, it’s about your will power and heart to succeed in whatever you want to do. Vincent obviously had help in his success but those around him who were selected naturally seemed to have not succeeded because they didn’t meet up to expectations. They were breeded and they couldn’t be mentally as strong as their bodies were. They also had no humility which is something you learn from failing.

exactly nature is not meant for man to control it so why fight that and just learn to accept that and be happy with the results.

I agree with this. Life is meant for things to happen by chance. If we genetically make someone, then one could say we have a perfect world and nothing to worry about. God did not intend for it to be that way.

I completely agree with this analysis. It’s so true that failing does make us stronger, but we know that we aren’t ‘perfect’ like Gattaca suggests, so we can be ok with our failures and move on. In the movie, Jerome couldn’t handle failing because it just wasn’t in his genetics, so when he did turn out second best he tried to kill himself instead of trying harder. It just goes to show that we need to take what mother nature gives us and make the best out of it, even if it means sometimes failing.

Excellent analysis. I agree with how a person achieves success. Its all through hard work and the will to do great things. Yes, one could make the argument that those traits combined with heart could be the perfect person. This comes back to whole playing God thing and controlling nature which was never intended.
